Rains meets Andrew Salgado
Andrew Salgado (b.1982, Canada) has been hailed as one of the most promising young figurative painters working today. Saatchi Art calls him “one to invest in now”. He has been featured in international press, including Artsy, Artnet, The Globe and Mail, The Independent, The Evening Standard and more.
Andrew Salgado strives to create paintings which often reveals more than meets the eye. His works are often based on classical archetypes like the Laocoön or Dionysian. They appropriates more brazenly from 20th century masters such as Bacon and Gauguin to modern-day rule-breakers, notably Daniel Richter, Sverre Bjertnes or Tal R. The RAINS x Andrew Salgado raincoat has an all-over print based on a close-up of an Andrew Salgado painting, which has then been repeated into a camo-like pattern.
